Team building and forming Agile in a Social Organization

What we did and what we learned from the process of implementing and adapting the "Agile" model to a leading social organization – the JDC – as a test case.

JDC Israel engages in innovation, development of social services, and works to address national socio-economic challenges, in partnership with the Government of Israel. As a development organization focused on strategic impact, we chose to assess whether and how the "Agile" method could suit our needs, and determine what is necessary in order to successfully build an adapted model.

As part of a unique organizational pilot, we learned and operated "Agile" throughout the development processes, and created practices and operation mechanisms of the "Agile" method that suited us – to be used in professional roles, routines, evaluation, and teamwork.
In this session we will present the unique learning and experience process, the dilemmas we faced along the way, and the challenges ahead.

Zohar Vololvesky is a Human capital development manger for JDC Israel. She has along track record in Human Capital Capacity Building, Leadership development, professional and volunteer training, HR, and program management.

Tami Abend works to develop occupational social innovation and create advanced solutions in the world of employment. As part of her activities at JDC Israel - Tevet, she managed an employment program, helped establish a knowledge development and professional development system for employment professionals, and took part in adapting development methodologies, such as collaborative and dialogical processes, as well as "Agile". Today, Tami leads an ecosystem to advance technological and social innovation in the employment field.

Quarterly Planning - present progressive to future perfect

A quarterly plan is a great way to set short term objectives and get teams aligned. So how do you discuss initiatives that will get you there without preparing detailed specifications in advance? How do you identify gaps? And how does it scale when you have multiple teams and dependencies? Well… sorry to say that we don’t have all the answers. But we’re here to share our story - what we did, what worked for us, what we learned, and how we continue to adapt & learn from quarter to quarter.

Using brain science in your Scrum Events

Intrigued by a back of the room training on how the brain works in a training and learning setting, Evelin Learned more about the human brain & figured out one could also use Brain Science to keep the Scrum Events alive and worthwhile. In this session we'll explore how you could use this knowledge in your Scrum events.

With over more than 11 years in the Agile environment, I now fully focus on sharing knowledge; teaching, conferences, developing and improving of trainings and trainers. As a trainer at Xebia Academy I focus on teaching. I teach trainings from Scrum.org and I am also certified to teach the ‘Training From the Back of the Room’ and have co-created the Virtual Edition of it with Sharon Bowman.

Spyre - Closing Keynote

Ahi Gvirtsman

16:00-16:45

So your R&D is agile but what about your product?

While many organizations are very adept at agile R&D methods still many of them struggle when it comes to adopting an entrepreneurial mindset at a product level. Any organization that wishes to effectively innovate has to develop this agile mindset in a broader context. This session will focus on the basic tools and principles of this mindset and cover the main challenges facing those who implement it.

Over his career, Ahi Gvirtsman has accumulated a rich experience in forming, building and running innovation programs for various types of organizations both as the manager of such programs and as a mentor to innovation managers of diverse types of organizations (corporations, municipalities, military). He personally designed, built and managed the innovation program of HP’s software division covering 20,000 employees worldwide. In his book “The PEAK innovation principles”, released in 2017, Ahi Gvirtsman offers a common framework based on his experience that can be implemented by any type of organization in any industry as a way of turning itself into being innovation proficient. He is a 25+ year veteran of the software industry with roles ranging from large corporations to small startups and has an MSc in computer science from the Technion and an MBA from Tel-Aviv University. Currently, Ahi is the co-founder of Spyre, a company which guarantees at least a doubling of any organization’s innovation outcomes.
